Kaynor Honors Veterans

October 30, 2018

Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for the annual observance of Veteran’s Day which commemorates the anniversary of the end of World War I on Nov. 11, 1919. While Veteran’s Day pays tribute to all American veterans–living or dead, it is a day to especially give thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime. Veteran’s Day is not a holiday or just another day off of school, but a time to demonstrate empathy, respect, and recognition to those that have served to preserve the rights and freedoms of this country. Here at Kaynor, we recognized our veteran’s through two events: the Veteran’s Breakfast and placement of flags at Calvary Cemetery. Many thanks are in order: to our culinary department, for the wonderful breakfast food, to our music department for the beautiful music sung by the choir, to the hairdressing department for the free haircut coupons, to the manufacturing department for the Kaynor key rings, to the health tech department for the posters and flyers, to Ms. Paccadolmi for the military branch flags, administration, maintenance, all of our students and our superintendent Mr. Wihbey. We thank the hairdressing, electronics and health tech students for placing the flags at the cemetery which would not have been possible if not for the donation of flags from the Waterbury Veteran’s Committee Inc., Waterbury Veteran’s Memorial Committee and VFW post 201. Most of all, we thank our veterans!
