Grainger Foundation Supports CTHSS SkillsUSA Members with $30,000 Donation
The Grainger Foundation has donated $30,000 to SkillsUSA in support of its mission to help student members become world-class workers and responsible American Citizens.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Foundation, and all that Grainger does for SkillsUSA,." said Heidi Balch, Executive Director for CT SkillsUSA.
SkillsUSA is a non-profit educational association whose mission is to help its student members become world-class workers and responsible American Citizens. We accomplish this goal through two conferences’ a year. The first is a leadership training conference and the second is our Skill championships, where the students have the opportunity to compete in their chosen trade areas and/or leadership events. We feel these activities develop creativity, problem solving skills, teamwork, leadership, self-esteem and integrity—all necessary skills in the workplace.
CT SkillsUSA currently serves over 11,000 students in a wide variety of trades from cosmetology, plumbing and everything in between. SkillsUSA connects students to the “when will I ever use this” question – applied learning makes the work relevant.
